NYTimes Academic Pass Has Ended
Answer
Effective July 1, 2025, Hekman Library's access to NYTimes Academic Pass has been ended--anyone who previously used this to set up their own NYTimes account with their Calvin email may get a message saying they are no longer associated with a subscription the next time they go to access New York Times content. We're sorry for the loss, but unfortunately, the library could no longer afford this due to severe budget cuts.
However, we do still have access to the New York Times in other ways through Hekman Library:
- Online (Full Text pdfs: 1851 - present, minus 1 month embargo) - https://library.calvin.edu/newyork-times
- Print (Last two months - present issue) - Both the newspaper and magazine can be found in the Current Periodicals wall on the 3rd floor.
Looking for recent access to other online newspapers? We also have access to:
- Washington Post (Full Text: 02/13/2003 to present, minus 3-day embargo) - https://library.calvin.edu/washpost
- Denver Post (Full Text: 03/25/2020 to 04/03/2025, minus 1-day embargo) - https://library.calvin.edu/denverpost
- Philadelphia Inquirer (Full Text: 08/30/1997 to 04/04/2025) - https://library.calvin.edu/phillyinquirer
- Independent (Full Text: 06/12/2013 to present, minus 3-day embargo) - https://library.calvin.edu/independent-uk
- Wall Street Journal (Full Text: 1984-present) - https://library.calvin.edu/wsj
- Financial Times (Full Text: 1996-present, minus 1-month embargo) https://library.calvin.edu/financial-times
