Can't Access Databases on Safari. Help!

What to do when you're on Calvin University or Seminary network and can't view Calvin databases on Safari.

Answer

If you have iCloud Private Relay on Mac turned on, the library databases won't recognize you as being on the campus network. This means that while your MacBook might give full access to a Calvin database in a browser (like Chrome), it might simultaneously show you don't have access when you open the same link in Safari.

2 Solutions

  1. Turn off iCloud Private Relay on Mac on your computer.
  2. If you want to keep iCloud Private Relay on Mac on, but still access a Calvin database on Safari:
    1. Go to Library Search or Databases A-Z to locate the Calvin database and article you want.
    2. You should be prompted with a login screen when trying to open the article.
    3. Enter your credentials to view.
