Heritage Hall FAQs

Hours: Heritage Hall is normally open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Appointments: You don't need to set up an appointment before coming to Heritage Hall. However, if you have a complex question that would be helped by our staff doing some preliminary work, and/or you want to meet with a specialist, it's good to set up an appointment.

Contacts: The best way to contact HH is to email crcarchives@calvin.edu. That way we have the details of your question written down. You can also call us (616-526-6313).

Searching: Go to Heritage Hall homepage and use the search box at the bottom of the page ("Search Heritage Hall finding aids"). You may also use the Archon discovery tool. Finally, you can search for articles in magazines related to the Christian Reformed Church (CRCPI). This is simply an index, but it does include links to some full text articles.

Materials: Heritage Hall has and makes available for research the records of Calvin University, Calvin Seminary, and the Christian Reformed Church in North America. The archives also holds the personal papers of the university and seminary faculty and staff, ministers in the denomination, and alumni. It includes records of a variety of Christian organizations and letters and other material related to Dutch migration and the impact of this migration on North America. Finally, we have a lot of material that can help with family histories and genealogy, particularly for people with Dutch Reformed ancestors.
