My professor has put something "on reserve." What does that mean?

Answer

This means that a professor has put a book in a special, restricted collection behind the main checkout desk (2nd floor) so that it will be available to all members of a class. These materials may only be used in the library, typically for two hours at a time. Reserve items may be in physical form or online.
